urante muchos años, Lupe Flores,
dueño de El Jalisco Bakery en
Reno, trabajó diligentemente para
perfeccionar su oficio. Hace una década, el
panadero de toda la vida logró su sueño de
abrir su propia tienda. El resultado es una
magnífica panadería que a los consumidores
locales les encanta como una de las joyas
ocultas de la ciudad.
Las empanadas y los cortadillos son
productos de panadería exclusivos que
se ofrecen en El Jalisco Bakery, que fue
fundada en 2010. Los cortadillos son un
pastel amarillo húmedo y esponjoso que
se derrite en la boca. Es cubierto con un
glaseado de color rosa intenso y nonpareils
arcoíris.
En un mar de bolillos y cuernitos
dorados, junto con múltiples colores de
conchas, las rebanadas de cortadillos de

color rosa intenso siempre se destacan. A
los clientes les encanta la auténtica comida
hispana de la panadería. "Los tamales
son caseros y son muy ricos," comparte
un cliente. "Las quesadillas son bastante
grandes, al igual que las deliciosas papusas."
El negocio ha cambiado mucho,
especialmente en los últimos años, explica
Flores, porque no había tantos negocios
hace una década. Ahora hay muchas otras
panaderías hispanas en la ciudad de Reno.
"La competencia es nuestro mayor
desafío. Nos esforzamos por ser mejores que
los mejores," dice con orgullo.
Como propietario, Flores explica que
hace "un poco de todo". Su parte favorita
del trabajo todos los días es interactuar con
todas las personas que entran a disfrutar de
uno de los panes y repostería frescos que se
ofrecen en El Jalisco.

"Mi fuerza es hornear y cocinar," dice el
dueño. "Trato de ser siempre el mejor."
Anteriormente, Flores y los otros
panaderos de la tienda trabajaron muchos
años en diferentes empresas y aprendieron
de cada una.
Flores dice que los ingredientes favoritos
con los que le encanta trabajar incluyen los
chocolates y todas las maravillosas harinas
que BakeMark proporciona todos los días.
La panadería se esfuerza por innovar siendo
siempre mejor que el resto.
"Observamos a la competencia y nos
esforzamos por ofrecer mejores productos y
servicios," dice Flores, "el trabajo en equipo
es importante."
Abrir más negocios de panadería es el
objetivo final de Flores, quien reconoce
el desafío. Tiene confianza en el futuro.
"Tendré éxito."
