La Espiga Panadería
The strength of a family business comes from its
heart, which is a quality that is overflowing at La Espiga
Panadería. This bakery opened in 2009 in Spring Lake
Park, Minnesota, where Margarito Morales Gomes and
his family work tirelessly every day to ensure the best
quality of traditional Hispanic breads and pastries are
available to customers.
This is a true family business. Margarito works every
day making dough, flanked by his other bakers, while his
wife, Maria Morales, and daughters Barbara and Ibedt
handle customer service and business operations. Their

also work for the family bakery.
Barbara shares the history of the family dating back
to when her grandfather was a baker in Morelos, Mexico,
and her father learned everything he possibly could about
baking, starting at the age of 12.
"He makes a variety of bread, and each bread is made
using different flours," Barbara says of her father. "People
like to see different kinds of bread so they have more to
choose from, and it's always fresh. We work hard to make
sure everything is done correctly."
