CENTRO DE ATENCIÓN DE PROMOCIÓN

Festivales del Verano
Con los días soleados del verano,
cientos de festivales hispanos se
llevan a cabo en todo el país,
ofreciendo a los minoristas y a las
panaderías locales una excelente
oportunidad para promover sus
productos de panadería y participar
en las celebraciones y la diversión.
Un ejemplo es el Desfile
Colombia anual que atrae a más de
75,000 espectadores. Ocurre el 19
de julio, 2015, en el área de Queens
en la ciudad de Nueva York. Miles
de visitantes se alinean en la calle,
celebrando con la bandera colombiana en alto. Un festival se lleva a
cabo inmediatamente después del
desfile. Jackson Heights, en Queens,
es conocido como "La Pequeña
Colombia" donde vive una gran
comunidad de inmigrantes colombianos. El desfile celebra la independencia de Colombia de 1810.
CHICAGO

Del 30 de julio hasta el 2 de agosto,
2015, la Fiesta del Sol en Chicago, el
festival más grande en la parte media
oeste del país, ofrece entretenimiento
en vivo, arte local, una gran variedad de
comida, juegos mecánicos, zona para
niños, partidos de fútbol y mucho más.
Este festival de verano gratuito está
organizado por el grupo comunitario
Pilsen Neighbors Community Council.

OHIO

Programado para el 8 y 9 de
agosto, el Festival Latino es gratuito
para las familias y es el evento latino
más grande en Ohio. Celebra la
familia y la comunidad con dos días
de actividades para niños, música,
comida, moda, arte y danza del
corazón de Latinoamérica.
LAS VEGAS

En Las Vegas, el Desfile y Festival
Fiesta Las Vegas Latina se esfuerza por
ofrecer una oportunidad para que los
latinos que residen en el sur de Nevada
celebren y compartan sus ricas raíces
y costumbres en un evento familiar.
El desfile y festival se llevan a cabo
el 13 de septiembre.
LOS ANGELES

Los Angeles es la cede de más
festivales que cualquier otra ciudad
de los Estados Unidos. El 16 de
septiembre se celebran las Fiestas
Patrias, el festival del Día de la
Independencia de México más grande
en Los Angeles. Ocurre alrededor del
área donde originó Los Angeles, la
Calle Olvera. Este festival musical
para familias cuenta con un concierto en vivo con los mejores artistas
mexicanos, numerosos puestos de
productos con muestras gratuitas y
sabrosa comida de México.

EL MES NACIONAL DE
LA HISPANIDAD

Cada año, los estadounidenses
observan el Mes Nacional de la
Hispanidad del 15 de septiembre
hasta el 15 de octubre con la
conmemoración de las historias, culturas y contribuciones de
los ciudadanos estadounidenses
cuyos antepasados vinieron de
España, México, el Caribe y
Centro y Suramérica.
La celebración se inició
en 1968 como la Semana de la
Herencia Hispana durante la
presidencia de Lyndon Johnson
y f u e e x p a n d i d a po r el pr esidente Ronald Reagan en 1988
para cubrir un período de 30 días
a partir del 15 de septiembre y
finalizando el 15 de octubre. Fue
promulgada como ley el 17 de
agosto de 1988.
El 15 de septiembre es importante porque es el aniversario de
la independencia de varios países
en Latinoamérica: Costa Rica, El
Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras y
Nicaragua. Además, México y Chile
celebran su independencia el 16 de
septiembre y el 18 de septiembre,
respectivamente. También, Colombus
Day, o el Día de la Raza, que es el
12 de octubre, cae dentro de este
período de 30 días.
